Saudi Partnership

Saudi Arabia

Saudi Arabia is the largest producer of desalinated water in the world. The desert kingdom has relied on desalinated drinking water since the 1950s and is continuing to invest in it as the ravages of climate change becomes more apparent. 60% of the country’s drinking water comes from desalination with diminishing non-renewable ground water making up the rest

Neom and SALI

NEOM, proposed city in Tabuk Province

Saudi Arabia has proposed NEOM, a linear city that will be 170 km in length. It would be equal in size to 33 Manhattans and perfectly recycle all wastewater. A circular wastewater economy that would serve as a model for the globe.

Desalinated water plants built in NEOM would follow the model of Solar Thermal desalination. Saltwater would be evaporated in a hydrological sphere where sunlight would be focused on the water. Freshwater precipitated would be dispersed.

Resilience’s SALI would be the perfect fit for NEOM. SALI embodies the belief of energy conservation and education of the water cycle that NEOM strives for. SALI can serve as a personal desalination device for individual denizens of NEOM.
